Sometimes, some people are just born to be famous. 
A chance encounter with the founder of Japan's top talent agency 
was all it took for 16-year-old Jin Akanishi. He was quickly signed, 
and even more quickly broke records and melted hearts, 
beginning a career of dazzling success. For fans, 
Akanish Jin’s appeal lies in an irresistible combination of rugged looks, 
sultry vocals, and a sheepishly charming personality. 
He’s an anomaly among J-pop stars -- 
writing lyrics, playing guitar, and arranging the songs himself.

In November 2010, Jin set out to conquer the US with his own, 
self-composed music on the Yellow Gold Tour 3010. 
He played five shows across the country -- 
from California to Chicago to Texas to New York -- in giant stadiums and theaters. 
But there was a sixth show. A secret, intimate, invite-
only show, recorded live for MTV Iggy at the MTV studios in Times Square, NY.

How special was this event? Jin allowed MTV Iggy cameras to meet him 
at his hotel and invited us into his car for the ride over to Times Square. 
Instead of singing to thousands of screaming fans, Jin performed to a limited 
gathering on a stage just a few feet away. Instead of whisking away after a last encore, 
he sat among fans to take personal questions from the audience. 
The show was simultaneously broadcast on the MTV jumbotron overlooking Times Sq. 
and in just minutes, Jin captivated passing pedestrians and shocked fans 
who gathered to watch, sing the lyrics, and dance along to the performance onscreen.
